Hot on the heels of launches in the US, Greater China, Korea and Tokyo, Salvatore Ferragamo introduced the made-to-order programme for Vara and Varina shoes to the Malaysian public at the brand’s boutique at Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur recently.

More than 200 guests were present at the private cocktail soiree, ranging from local celebrities, top clients and VIPs. Amongst those present were General Manager of Salvatore Ferragamo Malaysia, CS Fan; Managing Director of Salvatore Ferragamo South East Asia, Mika Bailey; Malaysian star Scha Al-Yahya and celebrity bloggers Jane Chuck of chuckei.com, and Joyce Wong.

The new dedicated site, customize.ferragamo.com, was unveiled to guests in Malaysia for the first time, featuring an easy-to-use customisation program that allowed Ferragamo fans to design their own version of the Vara and Varina in different combinations of colours and materials.

The Vara, a mid-heel shoe, is one of the most recognisable shoes in fashion with its grosgrain ribbon bow across the toe-box and a gold plaque featuring the Ferragamo logo. First introduced in 1978, it has been worn by trendsetters everywhere over the last 35 years. In 2007, its sister, Varina, a ballerina flat model based on Vara was launched and quickly became a staple on the feet of A-list movie stars, top glossy magazine editors and the trendiest fashionistas.

Previously available in Optic White, Oxford Blue, Ruby Red and Black, the customisation program now offers the shoes in Pastel Pink, Pastel Violet and Blue-and-White striped fabric for a wider range of available styles to suit different tastes.
