Just In Case, a Malaysian home-grown brand that conceptualises and produces fashionable phone casings celebrates the opening of its first physical outlet in Mid Valley Megamall recently. Established in 2013, Just In Case has been creating a presence online through their official website, justincase.com.my, and social media outlets including their regular participation in bazaars throughout Malaysia before their current expansion. The brand also opened kiosks and consignment channels at Bangsar Shopping Centre, Gamuda Walk and One Utama (Cubix Concept Store).
Founder Liew Ping Xuan commented on the brand's history, vision and direction, “Back when we were participating in bazaars and promoting our unique casings online, we saw a growing demand for fashionable casings – something that isn't usually found in the market as most handphone casings are mass produced. We wanted to further tap into this niche and expand our brand with a physical outlet. 'Techsessorise' is a term that we like to use as it means combining both technology and fashion. That's the core concept of our brand where our casings are made to match your Outfit Of The Day (OOTD). Once a collection is sold out, we will not repeat the same design; just like fashion apparels – 'Fashion For Your Phone', that's our tagline.”
In tandem with the launch, Just In Case presented the Artist Collaboration Series, which is a limited edition series in line with their effort in promoting up and coming local artists. It also provides a platform for local talents to showcase their works of art. The brand will be collaborating with artists to produce interesting collections that will be sold in limited quantities, exclusively in stores as well as online. Haris Rashid, who is the first artist that collaborated with Just In Case reinforced the series with a live painting demonstration during the event. “I decided to embark on this collaboration with Just In Case as it would be interesting to see my artworks on phone casings instead of on canvas. I found the brand fresh and exciting and wanted to be part of this new concept of phone casings becoming fashionable accessories,” said Haris Rashid.
