Christmas Street

For the whole of this month, catch Singapore’s greatest seasonal after-dark attraction, Christmas On A Great Street. Now in its 36th year, the annual Christmastime light-up of Orchard Road covers a 3.88-kilometre stretch of the main thoroughfare and connecting streets. Besides taking Instagram pictures with adorable little Santas at unique set pieces, enjoy various activities at three Great Christmas Village venues at Shaw House Urban Plaza, *SCAPE and Grange Road Car Park. Enjoy over 30 amusement rides and game booths, including the Duplex Carousel and Bumper Cars, watch nightly music performances, savour delicious street food and shop at pop-up stores.

Photography enthusiasts visiting Siem Reap this month may be interested to explore some of the exhibitions hosted under the Angkor Photo Festival. This 15th edition of the five-day festival will feature a series of indoor and outdoor exhibitions, nightly slideshow projections, portfolio reviews, artist talks, panel discussions and workshops. This year’s programme will feature works from the event’s professional workshop alumni, such as Vietnam’s Linh Pham and Ha Dao, India’s Senthil Kumaran and Nepal’s Uma Bista. There will also be a unique Mobile Tuk-Tuk Exhibition, where images will be mounted on five tuk-tuks and taken outside of the Cambodian city for those in the countryside to enjoy.

Celebrate Sustainability

Held just outside Pattaya in southern Thailand, Wonderfruit is a renowned festival for art, music, food and ideas that celebrate sustainability and catalyse positive impact. This certified carbon neutral festival builds its pop-up site out of sustainable or upcycled materials and encourages visitors to observe green practices, such as avoiding single-use plastics and composting food waste. Festivalgoers can opt for the full experience by camping near the festival grounds instead of booking a hotel in nearby Pattaya. Be enlightened by talks and workshops on wellness and sustainability, explore the fascinating art installations and enjoy music performances from almost 100 acts in every genre from electronic to world music.

EDM Superstars

One of Southeast Asia’s biggest dance music festivals, the Djakarta Warehouse Project returns to downtown Jakarta next month with some of the biggest stars of the EDM world headlining the event. Global DJ phenomenon Calvin Harris will be making his second appearance at the festival this year, along with EDM prodigy Martin Garrix. Grammy-winning artists Zedd and dubstep legend Skrillex will also perform in the Indonesian capital. Other talents scheduled to perform are leaders in their respective genres: Oliver Heldens, Salvatore Ganacci, R3HAB, Martin Solveig, Jeffrey Sutorius (also known as Dash Berlin), Yellow Claw and Jonas Blue.

The Greatest Show

Be captivated and amazed as Circus 1903 transports audiences back to the Golden Age of the circus. The show returns to London after its successful autumn tour, bringing a huge cast of thrilling, graceful and entertaining acts. The award-winning puppeteers from War Horse bring life-sized, lifelike elephant puppets back to the circus ring. Another new featured act in Circus 1903 is the daring Wheel of Death act from Brazil. Ringmaster David Williamson leads this spectacular troupe, comprising acrobats, contortionists, jugglers, aerialists, strongmen, knife throwers, musicians and more in the epitome of live variety entertainment.
