The Jazz age, when Jazz music was such an important part of American culture in the 1920s, was also an era that shaped the evolution of the women’s independence movement. It was an era that gave birth to the “New Woman”.
Coco Chanel, Louise Brooks and Gloria Swanson were some of the “New Women” who liberated females around the world from conventional fashion and lifestyle restrictions. After gaining suffrage, the educated and independent women of the Roaring Twenties pursued public roles, developed fashion sense and their classic Art Deco jewellery helped express their new-found attitudes toward society.
Comyns commemorates this great era with its latest Art Deco-inspired jewellery collection. Jazz captures the mood of 1920’s American social elegance and enjoyment of life before the Great Depression.
Combining geometry and fluidity, Jazz is a portrayal of the streamlined form which is classic 'Art Deco'. The geometric motif which defines the Jazz collection is a contemporary take of the motifs from the Chrysler building in New York City, one of the most iconic Art Deco skyscrapers in the world.
Comprising a wrist cuff, earrings, ring and two pendant designs, Jazz is a collection for women of all ages. Made of sterling silver and crafted by Comyns artisans through traditional English methods of silversmithing, every creation of Comyns carries four hallmarks to certify its quality; the William Comyns hallmark, the fineness of silver content, the assay office mark and the date letter or year of assay.
The new Jazz Collection is available at Comyns boutiques in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Suria KLCC, Bangsar Shopping Centre, Royal Selangor Visitor Centre and selected Royal Selangor stores. The collection is priced between RM590 and RM1,550.
