Renowned Malaysian songstress, Yudi Yap has launched her latest album, Kopisusu 2 Jalan-Jalan. The launch of the album at the Skyroom, The Federal Kuala Lumpur also coincided with her own brand of sweets, Yudimama’s Artisan Coconut Candy.
Yap is well known in the Malaysian entertainment scene for her brand of music and her silky vocals. Carving a reputation for her soulful renditions of Shanghai oldies and Nanyang tunes, Yap’s latest effort has been met with huge anticipation amongst her fans.
The follow-up to her 2013 effort Kopisusu, which garnered her the Best Solo Performance and Group Performance along with eight nominations at the 11th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards, solidified her reputation as one of the nation’s best artistes.
Kopisusu 2 Jalan-Jalan, features Yap belting out her signature tunes along with artistes, Fayse Goh, Evan Siau and Li Qiang. The trio was also on hand at the album launch to perform several Nanyang love duets with the award-winning singer.
Rather fittingly, to coincide with the launch of the album, The Skyroom was transformed to reflect the golden era theme. The Federal Kuala Lumpur’s team of chefs also prepared a special menu, which carried the 50s and 60s theme.
To end the event on a sweet note, the album launch also saw Yap reveal her very own brand of candy. Yudidmama’s Artisan Coconut Candy – a truly Nanyang traditional handmade coconut candy is made using a traditional family recipe. The candy comes in four different flavours, which are original, healthy sesame, ginger and durian.
