Toyota Classics celebrates its 25th anniversary this November with a philantrophic fundraiser featuring a prestigious classical music orchestra that features the world's best soloists. The annual concert is a regional corporate social responsibility program by Toyota.
Organised by UMW Toyota Motor, this year's edition will feature the Covent Garden Soloists Orchestra from London; with virtuoso soloists Vasko Vassilev and Pamela Nicholson, under the baton of world-renowned conductor Miguel Angel Navarro. The theme for this year's Toyota Classics is, befittingly, “Music that Moves Lives.”
Having performed to standing ovations in the United States of America and many countries across Europe; the Covent Garden Soloists Orchestra is unashamedly virtuosic and is highly selective of its performers and repertoire. Vasko Vassilev, Bulgarian violin prodigy, will feature as violin soloists at the gala concert; and Pamela Nicholson plays the role of piano soloist, composer and arranger for the orchestra.
Nicholson is widely respected in the industry for her most controversial and courageous conversion of the classical violin and its repertoire for her daughter, Vanessa-Mae. Miquel Navarro will be leading the orchestra in an exclusive repertoire, as for the first time in its history, the Toyota Classics 2014 will showcase original arrangements by Pamela Nicholson that include movie themes from classic western movies and modern-day blockbusters.
The one night gala performance will be held on the 11th of November 2014 at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas and will be graced by DYMM Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Yang Amat Berbahagia Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Yang Amat Berbahagia Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali.
The gala night aims to raise funds for the Lung Foundation of Malaysia, the National Kidney Foundation, and Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Perlindungan Nur Qaseh Malaysia.
Tickets are priced at RM220, RM170 and RM60, and can be purchased from the Box Office, Dewan Filharmonik Petronas.
