Calling all jazz and music lovers! The World Youth Jazz Festival 2018 (WYJF) is returning for its 7th year, and it’s bigger and better than ever.
Dubbed as the world’s largest youth jazz festival, the event, which will run from 4-6 May, is a collaboration between the Kuala Lumpur City Hall and Ampang Jazz Club.
Themed “By Youth, With Youth and For Youth – BEYOUTHIFUL”, this year’s event promises intimate and engaging performances, with over 16 jazz acts comprising musicians both local and overseas taking to the stage.
Expect names such as Low Flowinder (Malaysia), Matti Klein Soul Trio (Germany), Danny One with Fieldplayers and Mohar (Malaysia), Ray Infante Trio (Philippines), Return of the Waves (International), Gregorz Karnas Formula (Poland), Emiko (America), Indro’s Jazz Muda Indonesia (Indonesia) and a special appearance by Tompi (Indonesia) with Lewis Pragasam (Malaysia).
WYJF Executive Chairman Dato’ Nik A. Azmi hopes that more people would attend the festival together with their friends and family to experience how jazz is incorporated in all genres of music.
WYJF 2018 will take place at two venues: Shook at Starhill Kuala Lumpur on 4 May from 6:30pm, and the DBKL Auditorium on 5 and 6 May from 3.45pm.
Admission is free.
