Lights, Fire, Music

Arcadia London marks its 10th anniversary by taking visitors on a grand journey of music and theatre, paired with robotics, pyrotechnics and biomechanics. British electronic music giants, the likes of Rudimental, Leftfield and Groove Armada, will perform against a backdrop of the event’s iconic centrepiece – the fire-belching Spider. The gigantic installation was built from over 50 tonnes of recycled military hardware and runs on recycled vegetable oil. Other highlights include the immersive Metamorphosis Show, which features aerial performances and mini spiders on zip wires above the crowd, as well as Lightning, where performance artists synchronise lightning bolts from Tesla coils to musical notes. A food village on site is where visitors will find all sorts of delicious food on offer.

Luminous Parade

A tradition spanning thousands of years, the Yeon Deung Hoe Lantern Festival is celebrated in Seoul to mark Buddha’s birthday and express wishes for the world’s happiness and well-being. Come night, temples around the city become awash with a soft glow, emanating from thousands of beautiful lanterns in different colours, shapes and sizes. Join the grand procession in front of Jongno Street as it makes its way from Dongdaemun Gate to Jogyesa Temple, as thousands of participants each carry a lantern to represent enlightenment, in accordance to Buddhist belief. Then, enjoy traditional folk performances, learn lantern-making and partake in temple food tastings, before the event culminates in wish lanterns being released into the sky.
