A Festival for All Celebrates 20th Anniversary of the HKSARHong Kong’s premier motor celebration is set to return for its second year as Sino Group today announces that it will be hosting the second edition of Gold Coast Motor Festival at the picturesque Hong Kong Gold Coast on 10-12 November 2017.
In partnership with leading car manufacturers and discerning collectors, this year’s festival will showcase over 80 cars, from prized classic and collector cars to some of the most sought-after super and hypercars. The prestigious collection represents the very best examples of their types, in terms of history, craftsmanship, power and technology.
Amongst the extensive exhibits on show this year, from the prized classic collection, visitors will see an iconic Ferrari 250 GT/E, first introduced at the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1960; a Toyota 2000GT, famed as the first ‘supercar’ out of Japan and a 1926 Bentley 3 litre, one of the oldest registered cars in Hong Kong.
This year’s Festival also features a remarkable collection of exclusive super and hypercars, including the Pagani Zonda Fantasma Evo, which is a one-off special edition; a Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, one of twenty ever produced; a McLaren P1GTR and the iconic McLaren F1. With the support of leading car manufacturers, we shall also be displaying some of their most sought-after current offerings, including the Bugatti Chiron, which will make its first Hong Kong public debut.
In the hybrid category, an acclaimed ‘role model’ for plug-in hybrids is the Volkswagen XL1, launched in 2013 with just 250 cars ever produced. This 2-seater car features a distinctive dolphin-shaped mid-engine and a gullwing door. The car’s overall weight is merely 795 kg, thanks to its carbon-fibre unit frame, similar to that of the McLaren P1.
The festival also provides a unique opportunity to learn more about the very latest motoring innovations and trends. It features a diverse range of educational talks and interactive events with celebrated motorsports figures, automotive leaders, experts and designers ready to educate and inspire everyone from experienced enthusiasts to young car fans.
The fun-filled event will appeal to car aficionados, collectors, motor enthusiasts and the general public, and is thoughtfully curated to ensure there is something for everyone. Family-fun attractions include children’s electric car racing, live music and entertainment performances, to be enjoyed along with wonderful hands-on fun for kids of all ages with special car-themed inflatable games and a mini-train ride.
Echoing the emerging trend of eSports, a milestone feature of this year’s Gold Coast Motor Festival is a unique collaboration with VLT, Darryl O’Young and Microsoft Xbox on their eagerly awaited driving game, enabling motor racing fans an online and on-site racing experience. The competition is open to all Forza Motorsport 7 fans and is a free-to-enter event while enabling players to race against Darryl O’Young and stand a chance to win fabulous prizes including a limited-edition Xbox One S console.
