Malaysia Airlines latest digital short film project 'Home' is an 8-minute 'documercial' featuring a heartwarming love story of Aadil and Athirah who are 6,000 miles apart. The couple lives in London and Malaysia respectively and are attempting to come to terms with their long-distance relationship and to find a place they can call home.
Co-produced by Mohd Hisham Saleh, Malaysia Airlines’ Head of Social Media & Innovations, and Lokalab Creative Director, Ili Amdan, the video features interviews with Aadil, as well as his and Athirah’s friends and family, as they share their story across thousands of miles. Since its launch, ‘Home’ has generated over 1.3 million views in over 10 days.
“Love is a powerful emotion; it can change many things about a person and can also bring people together in unity. By speaking with Aadil, a UK-born Malaysian in London about his relationship with Athirah, a doctor living in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, we felt that we could capture the feeling of love, which reminds us that home is wherever we are with our loved ones. By producing it in a documercial style, we felt that we were able to best capture the feelings of love, longing, family and homecoming in a genuine and authentic way,” said Hisham.
‘Home’ features a special track from Aizat Amdan, entitled Angau. Production of the film took less than 2 weeks, and was shot between London and Kota Bharu.
