In a bid to provide discerning travellers more options for luxury travel, the Starwood Group has decided to raise the bar by opening a hotel that’s set within a castle.

The Castle Hotel, located in Liaoning, China, is part of the brand’s Luxury Collection and is owned by the Dalian Yifang Group, but is set to offer Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ signature concierge service and indigenous cultural experiences in a majestic urban retreat.

Set amid the lush foliage on Lotus Mountain in Dalian, Northeast China, The Castle Hotel commands an imposing presence withits palatial Bavarian-style architecture, which overlooks Xinghai Square as well as Xinghai Bay and the Yellow Sea. The Castle Hotel offers 292 luxurious guestrooms and suites as well as 67 residences, all of which exude a contemporary design with exquisite wall decorations, furniture, ornaments and art collections. Each room also comes with stunning views of the surrounding ocean.

Following the hotel’s extensive renovation, The Castle Hotel remains an icon on the city’s skyline and is now poised to take its rightful place as the guardian of Dalian, the “Pearl of Northern China.”  The exterior of the hotel remains true to the original European-inspired architecture with hand-selected stones gracing the façade of the castle.

The ‘royal’ setting also resonates throughout the hotel’s three restaurants with creative and authentic cuisine options unique to Dalian.  The Zhen Bao restaurant for example offers authentic gourmet Cantonese fare featuring fresh “sea-to-table” seafood from the region and “farm-to-table” meats and produce whilst Collections is an all-day dining restaurant with an international menu. And in keeping with its Bavarian heritage, The Castle Hotel also features a Royal Cellar, which serves home-brewed German beer and northern European specialties.

The hotel will also boast two lounge areas for guests to unwind after a long day. The Lobby Lounge doubles up as an elegant bar offering the classic high tea; while the Aristocrat Lounge will be reserved specifically for wines and cigars. And no castle will be complete without a grand ballroom, which is why The Castle Hotel will offer a grandiose and spacious ballroom complete with seven individual function rooms and a 4,000 square meter open air rooftop garden.

If you ever wanted a fairy tale getaway, then Dalian is probably where you should head to on your next vacation.
